Update your wardrobe with color

The colors you wear will have a powerful effect on how you feel and how others will respond to you.

Rule 1- Only wear one item of black

As a simple rule, try to limit the number of occasions you dress in black from head to toe. Make sure you introduce color into your outfit. Everyone has something that they like about themselves e.g. eyes, legs, etc. Wherever you want to draw attention, wear color. For instance, if you want to enhance the color of your blue eyes, wear a blue top. Wear black on the areas you feel self-conscious about.

Rule 2- Inside out

If wearing one item of black is too far out of your comfort zone, wear black on the inside and color on the outside. For example, wear a black top and black trousers with a bright colored jacket or cardigan. This will make you look taller and slimmer. And, adding a little color will brighten up your mood too.

Rule 3- Accessorize

If you aren't comfortable in wearing anything other than black, you may choose to wear colorful accessories. For example, wear a scarf, a brightly colored necklace, a colorful handbag or pair of shoes will do the trick.

Rule 4- The winter coat

The winter coat is possibly the most important item in your wardrobe and its important to select one that not only makes you look fantastic, but fee fantastic too. Be bold and buy the brightest coat you can find.

Rule 5- The slimming effect

The fact that only back is slimming is a myth. Yes, it is true that darker colors are more slimming, but every shade of color has a "darker" version. For example, wine red(burgundy), emerald green, navy blue, mustard, burnt orange and aubergine are all deeper shades of their brighter counterparts.

Rule 6- Experiment with color

If you are unsure about what colors suit you, an easy tip is to stand in front of the mirror in a well-lit room and experiment by holding different colors up to your face. You will notice that some colors make you look pale, while others lighten up your face.
